After months (years?) of anticipation, Director Rian Johnson released the much anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser trailer:
It’s not long, under 2 minutes of footage, and there’s not much dialog, but like first The Force Awakens trailer we’re transported back into the familiar Star Wars universe. We’re treated to a few scenes of Rey and Luke training on Ahch-To, shots of General Leia, Kylo Ren’s destroyed mask, and the obligatory Star Wars space battle. Plus, it looks we’ve got a new angle on the scene of Luke and R2-D2 from The Force Awakens showing Luke facing the burning remains of what I presume was his rebuilt Jedi temple.
Also released during the panel was the poster showing Rey in a pose similar to Luke’s from Episode 4, with the lightsaber beam separating Luke and Kylo’s face. The composition definitely raises questions of if the Solo’s were merely adopted parents of Kylo (possibly explaining his “Ben” nickname,) or it merely sets them up as representatives of the Light and Dark Sides.
